Cold chain and long-term storage of research peptides
Lyophilised versus reconstituted, +4°C versus –20°C, and why insulated shipping matters more than most researchers realise.
Peptide integrity is a story about temperature. Every degree above the recommended range shortens working life.
Lyophilised form
As shipped, Peptogenic peptides are lyophilised — freeze-dried into a stable powder. In this form they tolerate ambient temperatures for the duration of transit, though we still ship in insulated packaging with a gel pack for margin.
Storage on receipt
Long-term storage is –20°C or lower, in the original vial, protected from light and moisture. A frost-free freezer with a dedicated compartment is ideal.
Reconstituted form
Once in solution, most peptides are held at +2 to +8°C and consumed within 14–28 days. Do not freeze aqueous stocks unless the specific peptide's technical sheet permits it.
